After sometime here we go again with a bit of news from us at Sellwood gardens we are still enjoing the group meeting and as we have been cut of from the broadband at the centre we have it mostly as a social meeting, a few of our members are disapointed for not being able to have the connection, but as a lot of the members that have there own computers have also broadband on at Home would have to pay it twice and this would not be on.
Sid & I went on a holiday (Bustrip) to Scotland very very lovely but tiring must be starting to feel our ages never mind try to carrie on as long as poss. As Summer will be up on us soon there will be a few making use of some of the weather if we get any this year but as we had a lot of snow this winter we perhaps can look forward to a decent Summer.
The group have a gathering about twice a year for a meal out again it is all nice to have this gathering does it show you we all get on very well miss Sid when he is not on form and this year he has had a few ups and downs, and he is greatfull for Jimmy taking over the setting up of the laptops and the other things that goes with the meetings. I think I have rabbited on enough now and wish you all a good SUMMER if we get it Heidi

more info from sellwood

It has been a time now since we had something new on the blog I hope this one will get there.
After the terrible snow we had over xmas we though this was the finish for this year but no luck
so far it came again last night but not the same as over xmas. A lot of things has happened since we have send a message on our blog Bren one of our members had an op. on her back I had an exploratory knee job done in Nov. and feeling a lot lot better.
A few of our members had tragedy within their Family circle Joyce one loosing her brother Roly lost a member of his wifes Family Ted lost his dear Wife and a few of our Neighbours on the complex passed away, this being the worth winter since we came to live here over 5 years ago.
Still here we are still enjoying our group meeting more social and games then anything else as long as it suits the members why worry. We had a nice meal out in Dec. most of the members made it there but one or two where to ill to come but this is the Winter for you, and after all we are no Spring chickens any more but so like our meetings twice a week. so I hope we will soon get in the swing of things again and keep people informed perhaps not as much as the information we get through Ifors blog we still miss his input a lot as he was and still is a good friend to the group, but at the moment he is getting further and further away from us hope he
will make it back here sometime again. Ifor if you are reading this hope you will be back again sometime this year we do miss our cuppa with you and the natters to set the world to rights.
Hope all our friends and people that know us all have a better 2010 HEIDI

Hello Again

We have been getting a long nicely with members playing spider solitaire, with Syd trying to beat the ladies scores. So far he hasn't managed it. The ladies are winning. Although we are pleased to have Heidi and Syd with us, it's because Heidi has had her hospital appointment post-poned for two weeks, so we are hoping she gets the call for this Wednesday. We wish her well.

We have photo's of three members, one of which seems to look rather strange. But he has been with us for a while now and we seem to be getting used to him. It has been hard work, but he does makes a lovely cup of tea, so we feel we ought to let him stay.

Sorry We Have Been Away

If you have been wondering where we have got to, then I shall explain. We arrived one day for our usual group club, and found that we had no internet connection. We found this very inconvienant, and it was because someone hadn't paid the bill. This had been going on for a few weeks when suddenly we arrived one day and found that we had been reconnected. We are all very pleased, and keeping our fingers crossed that it will stay this way.
Several of our members recently went on an outing with other residents from Sellwood Gardens. At first they thought it was a mystery trip as they travelled around the fens. Places such as New York, Midville, Spilsby, Toynton all Saints, Boston and a few others, which they can't seem to remember. I think it was the shock of Syd being so quiet on the coach. It was so quiet, they thought that they had left him behind. But I think he made up for it over lunch. This was at The Bull Donnington, they were there for two and a half hours. The meal was very good and the coach driver gave a running comentry throughout the trip. Everyone said they had a lovely day.

We are still without Bren. We understand that she has had an operation and is still in hospital, so we wish her a speedy recovery, and hope she will be back soon. Joyce two has had an operation on her other hand, and is doing well. Heidi is going into hospital on Nov. 11th, to seek treatment on her knee. At this time she is not sure whether she will be having the knee cleaned or whether she will have to have a knee re-placement. Our thoughts are with both Heide and Syd at this worrying time. I (Ann), am doing my best to lose weight after having lapband surgery last December. Throughout the year I have been struggling to do this and getting my portion sizes about right. I have been trying to get to a target that I set myself, for several weeks, and I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen. Well I am delighted to tell you that I got there last Tuesday 27th October. I was so pleased I wanted to shout from the roof tops. Getting to this target has given me the energy to try harder, and I shall be setting myself another target to achieve.
Now that summer has passed, we are not looking forward to the winter months. So we all hope that we have a mild one, so that we are all able to get about, doing the things that we need to do.

Further Information

Joyce two is having minor surgery on her left hand today. We wish her well and hope that she will be able to join us next Wednesday.

We also send our best wishes to Bren, as she is now in Hospital at The Queens, in Nottingham. We hear that she has had an operation, so we hope she will get well soon and that it won't be long before we see her again.
